Archimedia collaborate with several Lead Engineering Consultancies on a variety of Controlled Environment installations for the UK Nuclear Industry:

• Hales Evaporator Facility at Sellafield (in construction) in collaboration with Costain Oil, Gas & Process Limited (COGAP) and Sanderson Watts Associates

• Waste Encapsulation Plant at Winfrith in collaboration with Sanderson Watts Associates

• Intermediate Waste Storage Facilities at Hinkley Point in collaboration with Halcrow Nuclear

• Decommissioning Projects - various collaborations to design temporary installations to facilitate decommissioning work.

Archimedia provide a variety of Architectural input to:

• Presentation drawings and 3-D imaging for Planning submissions

• Internal spatial planning of facilities, both at the conceptual stage, and in detail,

• Detailed procurement information including specification and detailing of wall and floor finishes, certified for ease of decontamination to meet Nuclear agency requirements.

• Co-ordinate Building Regulations submissions

• Detailed Fire Strategies including assessment of escape routes, fire compartmentation and separation requirements, fire safety equipment and signage requirements in conjunction with both conventional and nuclear Fire Safety Officers.

• Planning and design to maintain escape routes during decommissioning works to satisfy the requirements of Building Control and local or nuclear Fire Safety Officers.

• Cascade Ventilation Requirements: design and detailing of construction components to maintain HVAC cascade systems in conjunction with other functional requirements, e.g. fire resistance, acoustic attenuation, etc.
